Take your child to work day....

Today, was take your child to work day!! Sam, didn't want to go with me to work, because he would have got stuck doing some laundry, dishes, ironing, cleaning maybe even have gone for a walk - so he choose to go with Dad. Here are a few pictures that were taken by someone Todd works with.

They started out pretty early this morning - Sam had to get up at 5:20am in order to be out the door by 6am - so I was thinking from 6/5 would have been a very long day for Sam. So, Todd ask me to come to Ft Myers have lunch with both of them at Perkins, then I would bring Sam home. Sam, really liked that idea a lot.

Afterwards on the way back, I decided to stop by and see an old friend of mine. It was Robert - Robert use to be my landlord when I first moved to Naples. I moved to Naples back in 1986 and he moved to PG I believe in 1999...I completely forgot he moved to this area way back when. And by the time Sam's dad and myself split, my 1st ex told me to look up Robert - because he knew I was moving this way. And I found him, go figure we moved to the same spot, but over the bridge from each other. Last time he saw Sam - Sam was 5 and in boy scouts and now he's moving into middle school this year. Willie - Robert's wife still till this day has never met Sam.

So, we're sitting on the front porch of his business and a train decides to come by.

He has Risen....Happy Easter....

Part 1:

Easter morning was a bright and early morning for us! For the first time, my parents decided to do the early Sunrise Service at the Nav-a-gator at 7am. Which of course met that we were leaving the house around 6am. Dad, at leased stop by Murphy's USA and got each of us a cappuccino. (FYI) this post is going to be a long one, everything we did in a day.

After we got to the site, their were 3 other people there and 2 smoked. Mom, ask them to move away as they polluted her air space. Then one by one it seemed like people were coming in with their cigs. Mom ask the Pastor was it right for people to smoke in Church? He just smiled, it's nothing he can do it's a outdoors event. So, Mom and I sat as far away as we could so that we were not smelling the crap...or sh__ as Mom would call it. I'm sure my Mom is not coming back her next year, not with Emma anyway.

Happy Easter.... remember the reason for this special day!! He has risen..

Part 2:

Dad's family came up for a visit on Easter! It was nice seeing Mikey, Billy and Maryann, also Uncle Ted, Aunt Cathy and Grandparents Tom and Ann. Everyone had a BLAST in the pool. We had a cook out, with burgers, dogs, chips, and anything else that came along with it.

After their few hours spent with us - our day wasn't done. We were going to Uncle Tony's for dinner.

school schedule for the next few weeks....

Lots of fun things coming Sam's way and we are just excited about everything. Before I post his schedule, I will say that Deep Creek does so much for the 5th graders, they seem to really care about each one of them as they part Elementary school. They make it FUN POINT BLANK!!

FCAT testing comes to an end today....woo hoo....last day for it. And today was Science, yesterday was as well. Sam, said yesterday's science was pretty tough, but he thinks he did fine.

Ok, so now here's his schedule - sometimes I wonder why I even post on his blog, because I know that our family members don't look at it, what a great way to watch your Grandson, Nephew, or even Cousin grow up. But that's ok with me because it's their loss not his....anyway....

a new God Father!!!

Well, where do I began with this post? OK, I will start with yesterday the 5th of April. Our friend Tony hasn't been feeling all that well and so yesterday, we spent a good part of the morning and afternoon together, by me taking him to his doctor and then for blood work.

Tony, was telling me (Sherri) that his daughter Makayla said to him, well now that your Emma's God Father, does that mean your Sam's too? Tony answered with a no, his daughter said well that's not fair. After talking to him about the God father thing - I have mention to him that Sam's God Father has never done a thing for him, and it's been 10.8 yrs. His Godfather happens to be or use to be a good friend of his Dad's and his name was John Barraco, which are no longer friends and haven't been for about 8 yrs now. That's what I get for having David pick out the God Father, no responsible their on John's part.

So, as I mention this to Tony - I thought hummmm why not be Sam's God dad, if Tony is welling I'm OK with that. So I ask Tony - his answer said he would love to be, but I think we need to leave this up to Sam. Then after Sam came home from school and did his home work, we talked about it. Sam's answer to Tony being his God father, well you couldn't wipe the smile off his face - he said of course that would be GREAT!! Sam, has been baptized as an infant - so we will come up with something for the both of them, making it a final thing. Sam, just adores Tony as Tony adores Sam.

he did it!!! Sam, did it!!

First off I want to say CONGRATULATIONS to our boy Sam...Sam, has EARNED all the required points in AR for 5th grade. He's the only child in his class to have earned those points. The sad thing is - other children would have earned them too if they only had to reach 150 points instead of 200.

Anyway, Sam has given me permission to come take a picture of his points as long as I don't take one of himself....hehe. So, as I stood on the other side of class, I got the camera out and took this shot of him taking the test.

Before he started he has 194.3 points - he had 2 books to test on both being worth 3 points each, and both were "The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the 1st book and the last one. After he tested on the 1st one, he turned around, teacher said ok Sam - how did you do? He said 10 out of 10...she said how many points to you have, he said 197.3 Then Ms. Lynch said boys and girls, I want you all to cross your fingers on one hand and if Sam gets his 200 points it's a FREE day for all...oh my goodness were they all happy...they were cheering Sam on, saying come on Sam you can do it!

This is when I started taking pictures - the test went by fast, he turned around and said out loud I GOT A 10 out of 10...woo hoo and said I have 200.3 points. What a very proud moment for his Mom. I so wanted to hug Sam and as I got close, he said Mom not here. I need to respect his wishes and not do that, it's hard but my baby isn't a baby anymore.

After I left the class room - I ran into the principle and we chatted a little. I had one big smile on my face and I told her I have just witnessed my boy earn 200.3 points on AR...she said that's awesome and said some really nice things about my Sam. She said every time she walks around and the children have some type of free time, Sam always has a book in his hand, she said she's seen him blossom so much in the past year, she said he's doing awesome in school, she see's him wearing his safely patrol belt around and I told her he takes great pride in wearing that as well. She said Sam will go a long way and do really good for himself. I thought they were some really nice things she said about my child...she put a smile on my face. And that was that....I left the building made my phone calls and ordered this photo on line for his teacher and myself. I promised Sam that I will not push him too much now to continue on reading, he seems to enjoy it anyway and i'm sure will continue on doing so, but he earned his required points in 5th grade and made me one PROUD MOM!!
