Dress up day at school!

Have I mention just how awesome she was? Todd and I headed over to school with 30 cupcakes we got from Sam's club last night for Sam's Halloween party today. Just as we got in the office, the pizza lady delivered 5 pizza's + other stuff. I thought wow the office is having a party today. No sooner then I thought that...here came 5 of Sam's class mates in the office, there teacher bought the pizza for her class. Out of her own pocket..did I mention how awesome she was?

She picked up adorable little Halloween bags from Winn-Dixie and she claims they gave them to her for kids. She gave them candy, juices, pizza, pencils', erasers, and other things. And all out of her own pocket. I thanked her for what she's done for these kids, and I told her how much I've seen them change in the past 3 weeks just having her. Thank you LORD for blessing our school with a gem.

She just loves our kids...and her students just love her so. You can see in their eyes at how special this lady is to each of them. And she is I can't even began to tell you how MUCH I love her. She is AWESOME and I'm sad to say that this is the end for Sam after this school year, we will miss her so very much when we moved to Middle school. But I'm very happy that my son is happy and he enjoys school because of this one lady.

Sam's new teacher is a BLESSING..

Yesterday was a special day for Ms. Lynch's students...they have been working very hard on a project and a power point presentation on Native Americans. Each child had to do research on their tribe and Sam's group have been working on the Pueblo's. None of the research was done at home, it was all in school and they only had a week to do it as the 1st quarter has come to and end.

Five weeks ago, Sam had a project to do - it was a State project and his state he was working on was Maine. The neat thing about Maine is - that his grandparents on his Father's side live there. But then after doing his part in his research, gathering all the work he needed, he was pulled out of his class and put into a new one. That's because our school was over loaded with 5th graders, so they hired a new teacher to come into play and Sam was one of the kids that lost his teacher.

Believe in me, I was not a happy parent knowing my child was being taken away from his friends he's had for more then 5 weeks, gone from doing a project and having that taking away from him. But his new teacher pictured with Sam - didn't want the children to miss out on their project that they all started a new one and had it basically done in record time.

So last night for the first time for most of us parents, had a parent teacher and student night. And the kids had prepared themselves with this wonderful project they put together in only one week! The class room was loaded with parents and I myself have never seen this happen in this school before. Even at a regular open house night. This teacher is a complete breath of fresh air and I mean just that. She's the sweetest thing I've talked to or heard speak to children in the most pleasant way that it made you just want to love her. She really loves each and every child in her room, the children enjoyed very much being there last night and I have never seen so many children and parents smile the way we all smiled last night just listening to her. She is one of the few with a KIND HEART and deep respect for her kids. She claims she got all of the good ones, and I myself knows that's not correct, because I have been around that school now 6 years from Pre-K to 5th. And even seeing the troubled one love her the way they do...you can tell she is making a difference for our children. There should be more teachers like her, no wonder she got TEACHER of the YEAR AWARD last year. And she even came from a different school.

I'm so looking forward to volunteering in her classroom this year and I hope she uses me? I haven't volunteered in a long time, maybe once in 4th grade and that was it. It's because all of the negative stuff you see, the yelling at the kids, and so on...I won't go into all of that. I will volunteer in her every day if she let me. The one thing I so enjoy the most is Sam enjoys going to school now. Five weeks ago - for 2 straight weeks, Sam will say that he HATES school and doesn't want to go to that school anymore. I just kept telling him honey - you have one more year there and your done. Lets make of the most of it, do your best and you will be done. And now this child looks forward to getting up and going to school. You know every single day he gets off that bus, the first thing out of my mouth is: Sam, how was school today? Mom, I had a fantastic day, a great day or it was the best day ever!!

One more thing to add as I brag about this outstanding teacher: I called one of the parents up after we left there as her child is in the same class and as soon as she answered her phone, she said without me saying anything, my child better never come home and tell me they had a bad day or she is mean, this teacher if so re-freshening!! And as I said, she's a breath of fresh air.

His school project is COMPETE!

I was just playing around with his project today, trying to think of something else to add to it. His project has something to do with Native Americans and so he's doing a project on the Pueblo Indians. The Pueblo's homes are made out of sand. Here is a little right up on it:

In their early history the Pueblos slept in natural caves and on cliffs. About the year 700 they began to build homes out of sand and adobe next to rivers. The homes called pueblos were also built on mesas, cliffs, and in canyons.

We were originally going to just spray paint it a tan color, then I got to thinking if there made out of sand, why not add sand to it. So, we spray painted it a little at a time and poured sand all over it.

School Project!!

Sam, has a school project that needs to be done by Wednesday because it's done on Thursday. The thing is I just found out about this last Friday. Hey no problem, Sam went to his Dad's and Mom will check into what he needs to do.

And this is what I came up with....grant Sam, really didn't want to do any of it until he saw what I made. Now it's time for him to do the rest, or at least most of it, along with my help. I enjoy doing things like this with him, and he never seems to want to do things for extra credit, maybe now he will. This is not an extra credit project.

So I came up with the idea of covering it in paper mache...so here you go!! This is also day 1.

Sam and Spencer

Sam is with Spencer tonight...it's our Wednesday night dinner at Church and Spencer came running over to Sam. He's always rubbing on Sam's head/hair...he claims he likes Sam's hair. They go to Youth Group together and he's my doctor's son.

Sam, decided to take Toby for a morning walk before he left for school. What a wonderful boy I have there....he sure loves his new friend.

Sam's teacher

Something really nice and wonderful as I would put it. David, called me this morning to say that he was coming up to have lunch with Sam, he did mention that on Sunday after I had Sam call him to let him know he left his library book in his car.

I mention to David, that he couldn't keep Sam's book for 2 weeks, it will be way to long for him to have it. So, he said he would come up - I was going to call him to remind him, but I didn't.

I was so happy went he called to let me know he was on the way up and offered to pick me up and take me with him. I have been in the house a week at that point as I'm not to drive per Doctor's orders. So, he picked me up and off to school we went. I didn't tell or remind Sam this morning, because I wasn't sure if David was going to remember, it's an age thing with the remembering.

We signed in at the office and sat outside on the bench right in front of Sam's class, waiting for that door to open and out came the class. Sam, at first didn't see us, then I motioned him over to us. His teacher stood there as I waved to her - I haven't had the chance yet to meet her. We talked for about 5 minutes as the class went into the lunch room.

We had a very nice conversation the two of us...I really liked her. I will say that she is the sweetest thing I've spoke to in that school in over a year besides all of Sam's other teachers he's had during the years. This lady was completely and totally refreshing, sweet, beautiful and young. Young by being 49 - she told me she was a single Mom of 5 children. I think we could become friends in time. She told me that Sam was a great sweet student, smart and just a good boy...of course I agreed. She also told me that Sam was an encourager to the other kids, because he got the opportunity to have lunch with her last week, and told the kids how it went and basically you need to read so you can have lunch with her. She told me that she now has 4 kids eating with her on Friday, how sweet is that.

She said she's OK with the kids reading any book they went too, even if it's not grade level and told me she wanted to encourage Sam to read the 15 sunshine books she had.

I mention to her that I would love to volunteer in class and that I have all during Sam's school year. But I need to recover first - she said as soon as the Doctor's give me the OK...she would love to use me. I can't wait to take a photo of her with Sam. I also told her that I was a little upset when Sam came home with a letter saying he's getting a new teacher and class, and I was worried about the kids in his class. I mention to her that every single day Sam came home last week, I ask him how school went and Sam said Mom, I love my new teacher, I like my class a lot and this is a good thing for me....don't worry I'm happy. That's all I needed to hear and she was just as happy hearing me say that to her.

So, after our chit chat we had...she walked over to David and introduced herself to him.

Sam's friends

Sam, had two friends over today....we have Charles, Sam and Justin. Both the boys were in Sam's class up until a few weeks ago, when Sam got moved into the new teachers class. They really seem to miss each other.
