New Teacher and Class

Today, Sam moved into his new class and begin his lessons with his new teacher. He was pretty excited about today. I have just gotten home from the hospital around 2pm and Sam came home around 3pm.

The smile on his face was PRICELESS!! He came home with no homework for the rest of the week, because he said his teacher is getting to know each student. He also came home with an award for getting a 100% correct on "Lunch Money" a book he read. And being that he got that award, he also got to eat lunch with his teacher. I ask him how that went, he said real good - he is it was pretty nice having lunch with her, that they chatted and got to know each other a little bit. He said Mom this is the best thing for me and not to worry about the move. I need to listen and not worry. All that matters is that he is very happy.

Now, I can't wait to see what kind of grades he comes home with. His other teacher - must be way too stressed, he came home with some graded work I wasn't happy with. Sam, would say because she doesn't explain it to us.

A complete surprise

Today in the life of Sam was totally a complete surprise to me. This was my day of cleansing myself out due to my surgery that is scheduled for tomorrow that Sam was moving out of his class!! WHAT?

I have heard that a new 5th grade teacher was moving in, due to the overcrowding of 5th graders and not enough teachers. Sam, came home with a letter from the principle that Sam was one of the students being moved into this new class. Was I happy about it? NO....I wasn't. My thought is why? Why Sam? He really had sort of a rough time in 4th after starting out with one teacher and her moving out and he getting a replacement. One that he claims was mean, and yelled at kids. On the other hand Sam got great grades with this teacher and I kept him in this class. He wanted to be moved in a bad way, but he's not always going to like the teacher he gets and you don't always get what you want. Anyway, he passed and moved onto 5th.

So, according to this letter - Sam has met this teacher today (Monday) and seems to like her. He's moving into the old Art classroom as that will become his homeroom class. He was moving in on Wednesday, the day I get out of the hospital. They will be doing a parent teacher meeting coming up soon, so that we can meet each other.

By talking with Sam over this new move, I wanted to be sure that he was OK with this. He said he really likes the new teacher, he likes his class and the best part to him is they don't have the block!! And what that is - being there 8 5th grade classes in the school, the teachers teamed up and split the classes as they do in middle and high school. Sam, just hated that - he said it's confusing to him and he never knows where to put his finished work, because the teachers don't explain it.

So, I'm looking forward to meeting Mrs. Lynch coming up but I'm unable to drive for 2 weeks until I get my clearance from my Doctor on the 12th.

FREE fishing pole & tackle...

Today Fisherman's Village held this event.

EVENT: Anglers for Conservation "Hook Kids On Fishing" program, 11 am-2 pm, Center Court. Free. Presented by Coastal Angler Magazine. Kids 6 to 16 will take part in clinics on casting, conservation, fishing safety and more! Pre-registration required.

A friend called me up a few weeks ago and told me about this. We all love to fish, when we get the chance too, but having something come your way FREE and you don't have to pay...we jumped on it. All we needed to do was pre-register and the first 100 kids that did, got a FREE pole and tackle box. It was a very nice event..we live pretty close to FV and we never take part in anything. Sam, for the most part had a great time, there were a few kids from our school there but none in Sam's group in the beginning - we were only 90 mins early...hehe.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures taken. This was going to be just a Sam and Dad day, because I was set to have surgery on the 16th, but it was moved to the 28th at my request and at a different hospital. And I ended up with a horrible headache and I still have it now typing this at 8:04pm our time. It's that time of the month and thank GOD its my last one - because surgery is Tuesday.

If, anyone is visiting the Punta Gorda area and is looking for things to do, you can check out the site of Fisherman's Village calendar.

update on Toby

And here's an update on old man Toby..we was left at our house on Monday, with rotten teeth, long nails and as fat as he can be. He was abandoned and left on the road. A friend of ours said he was peeking in her front door looking for love. She brought him for a visit, as she was going to be dropping him off at a shelter, when we decided to take him in. He's doing wonderful!! He's the best little Chihuahua to have around. He's been all shot up with the things he needed, got his rotten green and black teeth cleaned and lost more then almost 1/2 as they were being held together with tarter. He's healthy, the hospital said he was about 7 yrs of age, he weighted in at 9.2 pounds, and house trained. We are so very BLESSED to have him. He had found his home and we got Sam's dream dog a Chihuahua name Toby.
