Sam's 2nd project for school

Well, Sam had another project to make for school. He came home with a letter on Tuesday saying it was due on Tues the following week. Being that Thanksgiving was here and Sam was going to his Dad's over the weekend - I decided to let Sam go ahead and play, but told him no matter what - this will get done on Sunday when you get home. Thanks to Mom - I have been playing around with it trying to figure out just what he can do and this is what we came up with.

His project was based on an American Native - and he choose to do one on Ponce De Leon.

this photo is of the State of Florida - but we cut the top of it off, as when your exploring - you won't see the top of Florida. I sprayed painted this piece and then Sam tossed sand on it from his sand box.

not bad ha?

testing the frame

I picked this 24x36 inside measurements of a frame at our Church yard sale, painted it and look!! Sam's teacher loved it that she called me this morning and said she wants to use that for the Christmas pictures she takes of her students.

She told me that she said to Sam that she also liked the chimney background and Sam told her she couldn't use that because it was part of our decoration.

Feast at School!

Today in school, the 5th grade students celebrated their Thanksgiving Feast with their little buddies from Kindergarten. I stopped in this morning to drop some stuff off and I was a little late on it. The teacher needed other supplies that the other children didn't bring in. We did our part, but I was going to get some extra stuff that she needed, but I was a little late on taking it in. I felt so bad - they prepared all the food yesterday (Thursday) and were eating it today. I guess I should have gotten her stuff Tuesday night.

Anyway, being that the Kindergarten class room was small, they decided to move there feast into the 5th grade room. I so wanted to go in a help out, but Mrs. Lynch said they had the kindergarten parents coming in. Well I hit the jackpot - being the moved it in Sam's room - as I was getting ready to leave, I told the teacher to have a great day and be sure to take lots of pictures. I so miss helping out in class as I have done this for the past 7 years with Sam and I hated that I couldn't get pictures of Sam's last year in this school.

Well his teacher said as I was about to leave, hey do you want to come back later and help serve? What? Of course I will come back...see you at 11am. She is the sweetest teacher yet, I really love Sam's 2nd grade teacher as well - as we have become friends. And this one - well she's the icing on top of a cake, sweet as pie. And very cute I may add.

So, I got to class a little bit early - I had to grab the turkey from the frig and carry it to the class room. No one was there at the time, so I took a few extra pictures. This is their classroom.

here is Sam, Kevin and their little buddy. The two boys share this little guy. They were all Pilgrims and Indian's. The cute this is - the Kindergarten children made all the hats for their BIG buddies. I don't know Sam's little buddies name.

Sam's teacher is standing up with the Mic in her hand. See the cabinets behind her - they have numbers on it. Sam, is on that chart - it's for AR points and Sam is on the 65 spot. He is the top READER in his class.

I made the newspaper!!

Read all about it, get your copy today!! Sam, made the front cover of the newspaper yesterday. If, it wasn't for his teacher myself as a Mom would have never of known. Thank you Ms. Lynch for telling me about it. I drove Sam to school this morning and so thereafter took my tail to the newspaper company. There is where I picked up 6 copies, 2 of them were FREE and I paid $1.00 for the other 4. Sam, is holding his flag straight up as it waves in the wind. When his teacher told me he made front cover, she wasn't kidding. That's a big article. This was taken on Saturday during the Veterans Day Parade and just now getting in. I can't wait to show him this.

Veterans Day Parade!!

Today was the Veterans Day Parade, here in Punta Gorda. And for the first time Sam got to be part of this event. It's only for the 5th graders in our school. In past post I have mention numerous times how wonderful Sam's new teacher was - well today only goes to show just how special in my eyes I think she is.

We have 9 5th grade teachers in our school and only 2 teachers participated in this event - his teacher and one of this old ones before moving to his new class. They claim about 35 children signed up for this and almost 1/2 of Sam's class showed, 9 out of 20. I don't even think 35 showed up more like 20 - Sam's teacher is wonderful and the children love being around her.

Here is my handsome boy!!

Sam and his teacher Ms. Lynch

Here are our children - I think they all did a great job!! Go DCES~

and what a BEAUTIFUL TRUCK I may add!!

this is Ashley, Sam, Ms. Lynch and Adrianne

and a small video of the children coming

Sam, said he had a great time and it was fun!!! Mrs. Henkena said they may do the Christmas Parade and Sam wants to do that one as well.

Parent Conference!

Todd and I had a parent conference set up with Sam's teacher this afternoon. Being the teacher is new, set up conferences with all the parents of course at different times. She wanted to go over a few things with us about how Sam is doing in school and if he needs help in any areas at home.

She also wanted to know how he was at home and if he understood the things he needed to do and so on. We as parents had no concerns and or problems with him at home. She had some papers printed out with grades, AR score sheet and other things for our view and to bring home.

First she showed us where he was as far as his grades go and he's a straight "A" student at this time. He's the only child in class with the higher AR points in reading, he also along with the class was tested for something called Fare/Fair? And he tested highest in the class. The top 5 children are all boys. She said he's smart, cute, loves to learn and loves it when she reads to him. She said what ever we're doing with him at home, we need to continue that because he's a good boy, just like Rick Scott!!..lol.

The only thing she really said he needed help on was that when he's speaking in class, sometimes he speaks to fast and he forgets what it is he's saying and that frustrates him, but that he always on focus. He looks right at her every time when she's speaking, she can tell that he's here to learn and not to play.

She said she's an expert on high IQ's and feels Sam has a very high one. So, we have decided to have him tested...for gifted and see what happens. Hey if he is, it will help him out middle school big time.
