It was so very COLD out - but after Todd got this hoop together, the 3 of us grabbed a ball and went out. But of course I was doing the video taping.

It started like this.....
What a beautiful morning here in the house!! Toby, loves to hide behind the Christmas tree - as he's spotting the place of Sun on the floor. Sam, decided to crawl inside a tupperware box and play. Then we thought of something..Toby came to mind. This box could and would make a great fun dog house for him. So, without further ado - I got the box cutter and tape, that's all the tools we needed.

Sam, won a $50.. gift card...
Wow, I just had to share the news!! A few weeks ago, one of my dear friends and blog readers was having a drawing for her husband's 50th birthday. She was trying to collect a million cards and was having a drawing afterwards. We just received an email today, saying Sam won that $50. gift card to his choice of store or restaurant and he picked Apple Bees...thank you so much Debby for your kindness!! You can view her blog by clicking here. Sam, couldn't believe it, of course I had to refresh his memory and my husband's as well.
He has been wanting too for the past few weeks go to our new AppleBees. It just opened up 2 weeks ago today on Dec 6th and now we get to go. First thing Sam wanted to do was go on line and check out their dessert menu.

President's Award for 5th Grade
What a morning!! We started by getting Sam up at 530 instead of 630. He was invited to join the Camber of Commerce for breakfast and an award ceremony. The 5th grade children who participated in the Christmas Parade in Punta Gorda won...my oh gosh - they got 1st Place in the Presidents award for that parade!! I'm so very PROUD of our 5th Grade students!! Here is Sam holding that TROPHY!
This was the very first year DCES signed up to participate in the Christmas Parade! And oh my gosh they WON!! It's exciting to me as a parent to see and watch Sam grow into such a wonderful young man...and to be part of something this BIG in the eyes of a 5th grader! Even, if this is the only time they win a trophy of that size, Sam had a part in it. When they were making the announcement and said the 5th graders....there was so much noise - every 5th grader there jumped out of their seat and headed towards the front of the room in honor of their school!!
Looking at the trophy picture - you will notice 2 BIG ones sitting there - they got one and the sheriff's dept got the other.

I made patrol!
Sam, was just too excited after getting off the bus today! As soon as he got in the car - we made a run to walmart to get Dad some gifts for Christmas and Sam gave me the best news!! He said his teacher told some of the kids just before school let out yesterday that they made patrol. Sam was the first name called - he got patrol because of his grades. You have to be A/B honor roll students, do homework and have it in on time and treat your class mates with respect. You have to be Ready, be Responsible and be Respectful. He was so excited and I can't wait to take his picture with his belt on. So, until the end of the school year - Sam and the other 5th graders chosen will do patrol.

The question came up.......
Well, I wasn't sure how to put this - and I think I did my best with what answers I gave. Sam, the other night as we were watching "The Polar Express" said Mom, Dad can I ask you something and I want you to be totally honest!! OK, Sam - what's the question. Do you and Dad put the gifts under the tree, or does Santa really do it? I said Sam - we will talk about it after the movie is over and nothing ever happened. Four days have gone by!
And today that same some what type question came up. On this very day Dec 4th, 2010 at 8:55am - Sam wanted to know. One thing I / we have always told Sam, if you ever want to talk about something, you can always come to us and I will gave you the honest truth. I'm not going to lie to my child and I don't expect for him to either.
I have always said, if you done something wrong and you don't want me to find out, then you better tell me the truth because If I find out, there will be consequences.
My girlfriend and I have both talked about this very subject and wanted to know, when was a good time to tell them the truth. We were hoping to get by this one last year because their only 10 - but most 10 year olds don't believe as they have older siblings who ruin it for them. We knew for sure, that they needed to know before they hit middle school. Well, my day came today and Sam and I laid down in my bed and talked about it.
I told him though I'm 47 I will always believe. There is nothing wrong with believing and just the magic of it is a beautiful thing. I did tell him that there is no Santa that comes to our house. He said Mom - I kind of had that feeling for a few years and it's OK. It's OK? Are you upset about it Sam? No! Are you OK with it? Yes Mom I'm OK, I'm not mad - I'm glad you told me. But I had to assure him, that some of his friends still believe there is a real Santa and they can not hear this from you. He said I won't say anything Mom. He's very excited about watching Emma live this beautiful magical moment when she comes home.
Sam, is such a beautiful blessing - he's my wonderful gift from GOD! God, did a great job preparing this child for me and we are such a prefect match as Mother and Child. I love this special boy with all my heart and soul! It went so easy, took about 5 minutes top and it was over. I'm blogging this because like I've said numerous times - I print out my blog, and I so want to remember and look back on this when I'm old and can't remember things.

Today was an exciting day for Sam, well until he nearly fainted. Sixty 5th graders signed up to join in the very first DCES Christmas Parade in downtown Punta Gorda. If, you take a look back, Sam also did the Veterans day one as well.
But this was the very first time our school participated in this event and it was really nice. Yesterday when Sam got home from school with just a slight cold, but wanted to still do this parade. Todd, and I were also joining in as we were the only 2 parents to help if something should have happened, like a child falling off the trailer.
Sam, was doing just fine up until this picture was taken. He's standing on the left side by a little boy in a white shirt. They were getting all the kids in order to a photo to be taken, then I noticed Sam's eyes rolling up in the back of his head. I ran over to him and grabbed him a fast as I could. His teacher even saw him going down. They have been standing in the heat for over an hour waiting for this thing to start. So, they put Sam into one of the teachers vehicles, the one that was pulling the trailer for about 15 minutes, the boy scouts across the way gave him a slice of pizza. It was lunch time, he was hungry and I've never seen him like that, but being he's not drinking water, hasn't eaten lunch yet because we got there at 11am and standing in the heat altogether - got the best of him.
Everything turned out nice, a few of the children were feeling pretty sick by the time this was all over. But they did it, they all did a wonderful job and Sam's teacher is just simply the best. Next year, we will be able to go there, sit and enjoy the parade - as when your in it, you don't see everything.
